Rafael Amaya is best known to audiences as Aurelio Casillas, "El Señor De Los Cielos." The titled character is a drug lord and has any woman that he wants. He is selfish and only cares for himself and live up to his reputation. Contrary to Casillas, in real life Amaya was committed to fellow actress Angélica Celaya and both were planning a wedding soon. The couple had been together for five years before he proposed, but recently broke the news that they will not marry. "I am not getting married and I am celebrating the blessings that life has given me," Rafael told Hola magazine. He did not reveal the reason why they split.
This week, the Mexican tabloid magazine, TVNotas published an article that gives the real reason Celaya and Amaya broke up. It seems like there was a third person involved and it was Angélica that cheated on the "El Señor De Los Cielos" star. Celaya had been working on the NBC series "Constantine" in the U.S. while Amaya was in México working on the third season of the Telemundo series. Seems like the distance took a toll on the relationship and Angélica allegedly cozied up with co-star Matt Ryan who plays Constantine on the show based on DC comics characters.
If the rumor is true, Rafael Amaya, must be going through a devastating period. We are sure working on "El Señor De Los Cielos" will help him cope and especially because it's Telemundo's biggest hit. Rafael and Angélica met on the set of another Telemundo production, "Alguien Te Mira" in 2010. "It feels like we've been together for a lifetime, we were made for each other," Amaya said in an interview years ago. After co-starring in the Miami-based production, the couple reunited on-screen in the first season of "El Señor De Los Cielos," where she played a cop who was ultimately killed in the hands of Aurelio Casillas himself.
