Rafa Marquez had to take a small break from Copa América Centenario Leonardo, his first son with wife Jaydy Michel.
“Happy to have Leonardo among us already,” Marquez wrote on social media. “So many blessings in our life at the moment. Thank God everything went great! We thank you for all the messages and the love you have sent us.”
According to recent reports, the Mexican soccer star flew to Guadalajara, Mexico as soon as his wife told him it was time.
“Just here, taking a walk to get some air, catching by breath and admiring the hydrangeas, which I love so much,” a very pregnant Jaydy said on Instagram hours before the baby’s birth.
Although Leonardo is the couple’s first-born, they both have children from previous marriages, Manuela, Jaydy’s daughter with ex-husband Alejandro Sanz, and Santiago and Rafaela, Marquez’s kids with ex-wife Adriana Lavat.
ESPN FC reports Marquez is set to return to the United States for Mexico’s quarterfinal encounter versus Chile on Saturday, where tens of thousands of fans will fill the sold-out Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
The tournament’s statistics show that the veteran and captain of Mexico’s National team has once again exceeded expectations during the tournament and has been named as a forced to be reckoned with.
The team’s head coach, Juan Carlos Osorio, mentioned Marquez was a little tired after returning from Mexico earlier this week, but he will be in full form for the match.
“Everything ready for tomorrow,” the 37-year-old footballer wrote on Twitter.
“Every game is different,” said Osorio during a press conference prior to the match. “We are heading into quarterfinals against Chile, and I think it will be a very tense game, hopefully the results will be in our favor.”
But enough about sports! Scroll down to see baby Leonardo’s first photo ever. How adorable are his little feet? Congratulations to Rafa and Jaydy!
