Alice Braga stars as "Queen Of The South" in the USA cable network adaptation of the Arturo Pérez-Reverte best seller. The drama series premieres on Thursday, June 23 at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT and these are the reasons why you can't miss it:
1. Alice Braga: We loved Kate Del Castillo in "La Reina Del Sur" for Telemundo and we will always remember her, but Braga looks like she will kick butt as Teresa Mendoza.
2. As fans of "La Reina Del Sur," we are excited to see the similarities between the series and the telenovela.
3. Action-packed: We know this is an intense series where everything happens fans. If it is as explosive as the Telemundo novela, we are going to enjoy this.
4. Paty O'Farrell: One of our favorite "La Reina Del Sur" characters was socialite Paty O'Farrell. Who will play her on the USA remake?
5. El Güero: Rafael Amaya played the character in the Spanish-language series, now Jon Ecker will take on the role and will not disappoint.
6. Latinos: Although we would love better representation of Latinos in the general market, we like that this series is employing Latinos, which allows them to gain exposure and possibly move on to other projects later on.
7. "El Señor De Los Cielos": Rumor has it that Aurelio Casillas will make a cameo on "Queen Of The South" and we can't wait to see what kind of trouble he gets in.
8. Cast: Veronica Falcón (“Besos de Azúcar”) as Camila Vargas, Justina Machado (“Six Feet Under”) as Brenda Parra, Peter Gadiot (“Tut”) as James Valdez, Hemky Madera (“Weeds”) as Pote Galvez and Gerardo Taracena (“Apocalypto”) as Cesar “Batman” Guemes. Guest stars include Joaquim de Almeida (“Our Brand is Crisis”), Jon Ecker (“Narcos”) and James Martinez (“Breaking Bad”).
