Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving British monarch passed away on Thursday, Sept. 8. She was 96 years old.
"The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family," the new king, her eldest son Charles, said in a report by Reuters. "I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world,"
Concern grew recently after doctors grew concerned about Queen Elizabeth II’s health. The British Royal Family rushed to be with the 96-year-old leader on Thursday after Buckingham Palace admitted that the monarch’s doctors were very concerned about the health of Queen Elizabeth II.
“Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” the Palace said in an alarming update.
Initially, the palace claims that the Queen remains comfortable at Balmoral. Prince Charles had already seen his mother while Prince Williams was set to visit Queen Elizabeth II as well.
Prince Anne, the Queen’s only daughter, was already in Scotland to be with her mother.
“The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime,” New Prime Minister Liz Truss tweeted.
“My thoughts — and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom — are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.”
Queen Elizabeth II allegedly suffered from what is called “episodic mobility problems” since the end of last year. She was last seen meeting Truss on Tuesday to formally approve her appointment as UK leader.
Although she seemed well, smiling in official photos, concern grew when she was seen with a cane and had a dark blue bruising on her right hand.
