Queen Elizabeth’s prayers may have finally been answered when Prince William tied the knot with Kate Middleton in 2011. Before their nuptials, the Queen struggled a lot with the failed marriages of three of her four children.

In an article, she penned for The Sun, royal expert Ingrid Seward said that Her Majesty was at her wits’ end when Princess Anne, Prince Charles, and Prince Andrew divorced their respective partners. The monarch, reportedly, asked the Queen Mother where had she gone wrong and the late royal gave her the best response.

“You take these children from broken homes and give them a family life and all they do is throw it back in your face,” the Queen Mother said. “Don’t worry, it is a different generation and there is nothing we can do,” she added.

Decades later, Seward said that she’s curious if the Queen thanks Kate Middleton and her family when she prays at night. The Duchess of Cambridge is very close to her parents and siblings, and it is evident that she was raised well.

The royal expert said that it is obvious that the Middletons are the most embraced in-laws whose offspring have married into the royal family. The mom of three’s parents, brother, and sister have stayed in Balmoral and Birkhall. Michael and Carole Middleton have also dined at Windsor and they have ridden royal carriages to the Royal Ascot.

“So what’s the Middletons’ secret to success?” Seward wondered. “Mom Carole’s glamour and business acumen and dad Michael’s gentle nature and charm have proved the perfect elements for their eldest daughter to become the future queen. Kate’s stable background instilled in her natural confidence, which has helped her so much in royal life,” she added.

The royal expert went on to say that unlike Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson, Kate Middleton has never felt unloved and insecure because her parents never left her. In fact, they are still very much involved in her life and the life of her children today.

Meghan Markle also comes from a broken home. Even though the royal family has been nice to her mom, Doria Ragland, they have not met her dad, Thomas Markle Sr.
