Queen Elizabeth's appearance during her meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "gives hope that she will be able to fully enjoy her Platinum Jubilee celebrations," claimed a royal expert.
Royal author Phil Dampier told Daily Mail, "It's wonderful to see the Queen back meeting people after recovering from Covid… Most importantly the fact she is well again gives hope that she will be able to fully enjoy her Platinum Jubilee celebrations later in the year."
The Queen was photographed Monday at the Windsor Castle during her first in-person engagement since recovering from Covid-19.
Dampier continued, "She would have been very pleased to see Justin Trudeau as she takes her role as Head of State in Canada very seriously. How many world leaders can say they knew a visiting Prime Minister's father when he was PM as was Pierre Trudeau? She may be suffering from stiffness in her legs and hips, but it will be wonderful to see her enjoy The Derby, Trooping the Colour and all the other events in June."
Meanwhile, royal fans were angry as Trudeau met with the British monarch without wearing a mask during their meeting, despite her recovery from coronavirus.
The Queen, pictured in a patterned blue dress, standing without a face mask or the aid of a walking stick, appeared to be longing for normality. She also expressed her solidarity with Ukraine as she stood in front of a large bouquet of blue and yellow flowers during her meeting with Trudeau, a subtle tribute for Ukrainians. The 95-year-old royal received the Canadian PM, who is in the United Kingdom to discuss about the Russian invasion of Ukraine with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte.
The Queen reportedly made a "generous donation" to the Disasters Emergency Committee's Ukraine appeal. The palace did not announce the exact donation and declined to say how much was given. The charity publicly thanked the monarch on social media earlier this month.
