Star footballer Lionel Messi has recorded 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain, and the club is reportedly beginning talks with him to remain in Paris past 2023.
Messi's contract expires in June, and PSG is prepared to offer him a two-year contract which would come to an end when he is 38, according to PSG Talk. The proposal will reportedly come with a salary hike.
Messi appeared happy in Paris, but he has been linked with a transfer to Inter Miami. The Argentine star will be linked with a possible return to his former club Barcelona as it was a surprise when he left it for PSG just over a year ago. But it seems that Inter Miami could also be a serious option, reported CaughtOffside.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano said that Inter Miami and Barcelona want to sign Messi, but the star will not make a final decision on his future until 2023. He shared that Messi won’t decide now or in December, but his decision will be in 2023, and PSG will also try its best to extend his contract. He added that personally, he would love to see Messi "at least for one more year in Europe! He’s been back to his best for PSG this season and he clearly still has so much to offer on the big stage.”
It is not yet clear where he’ll be playing next season, but it seems like that his focus will be on the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar right now.
As rumors continue to linger over Messi's future in PSG, Kylian Mbappe has reportedly admitted that he would like to begin a new partnership with Hugo Ekiteke in the team, reported Mirror. He has expressed interest in playing alongside Ekiteke in a front-two for PSG. Mbappe had a tough start to life in the French capital, but it is believed that the 20-year-old has support within the PSG changing room. Ekiteke apparently knew what situation he was stepping into when he made the switch from Reims on loan in the summer.
As for Ekiteke, he has struggled for game time following his move to PSG. He has played only 149 minutes of football in all competitions.
