
A new PlayStation 4 error has been reported as corrupting saved data files and resulting in hours of lost progress. And in some cases the error is also prevention many apps from being opened on the Sony PS4. This has been all reported in a 38-page PlayStation forum thread. Posts on the thread identify the problem as Error CE-34878-0.
Error CE-34878-0 is not just strictly related to one game. Users report the error occurring with files relating to “FIFA 14,” “Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag,” “Call of Duty: Ghosts” “NBA 2K14” and “Battlefield 4.” One user reports to Joystiq that he lost 30 plus hours of progress because of the error. While many others on the thread can't open any of their consoles' apps, rendering them virtually useless.
The PlayStation forum members suggest a wide variety of solutions to the file corruption error. Some users are reporting that deleting the files in question allowed the apps to be playable, while many other users say the process doesn't solve the problems. According to the forum, no singular solution has been found. User llessrmoht write, “disconnecting from the internet solved my issue with this” but again that doesn’t work for everyone. Some users are even reporting that a full console replacement may be necessary to solve the issues.
