While other companies are still fighting to make a name for its virtual reality headsets, Sony is already steps ahead. The company has already revealed not one but two titles for the Project Morpheus VR system for PS4.
First up is “Project Cars” from Slightly Mad Studios. As you may have guessed, “Project Cars” is a racing game with incredible graphics, don’t believe us just check out the trailer below. Slightly Mad Studios released a statement detailing the games features as well as Sony’s VR headset support.
Virtual reality is a perfect fit for racing games since the game world literally comes rushing towards you from the distance and the increased sense of depth and speed that stereoscopic vision affords you makes this incredibly real and tangible. So when you're racing you get a much better perception of distances and position and you feel far more enveloped by that world rather than just looking through a window at it.
Project Morpheus also allows you to see detail you might have otherwise missed … Via our interior cameras not only can you look around the cockpit and see everything from a first-person perspective, but using head-tracking via the PlayStation®Camera you can also now move around the cockpit too – peer closer at some intricate detail or turn around and look out of the back window.
Meanwhile the other game is a first-person survival horror, “Until Dawn” by Supermassive Games. This is another perfect game for Sony’s VR headset as the peripheral design makes immersion of the game that much better. “Until Dawn” was announced back in 2012 with compatibility for PlayStation Move but hasn’t been heard of since then, until now.
Check out both promo trailers for “Project Cars” and “Until Dawn” below as well as the announcement for Sony’s Project Morpheus VR system.
