Pro-Skateboarder Terry Kennedy Faces Murder Charge For Beating Man To Death

The renowned professional skateboarder who is starred in a video by Snoop Dogg has been arrested after the death of 23-year-old Josiah Kassahun.

36-year-old Terry Kennedy reportedly attacked the victim viciously at a hotel. He left the incapacitated man who later succumbed to the traumatic injuries. The deceased man’s family is suing the pro-skateboarder for damages. It was also reported that the accused threatened the police at the time of his arrest.

On Tuesday, July 27 Kassahun and Kennedy were together at a Comfort Suites hotel in DuPage County, Illinois. The two men ended up in a confrontation that took a violent turn. It is reported that the older man punched the victim. The force of the punch made the victim fall to the ground. He was then kicked in the torso by the attacker.

Kennedy reportedly left the scene after the attack. The victim was taken to a hospital where he received treatment for his traumatic injuries. Even after getting treatment, Kassahun succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, July 31. Cook County Medical Examiner concluded that the victim had died due to a blunt force trauma to his head that he sustained during an assault. His death was deemed as a homicide, Fox News reported.

Following the assault, Kennedy had been tracked down and arrested. During the arrest by the deputies of DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, the accused reportedly threatened them with violence. He told the deputies that he would kill one of them, Daily Mail reported.

Initially, Kennedy faced multiple charges including aggravated battery in a public place and threatening a public official. On Monday, August 2 the accused appeared in court. As his victim had died, he was charged with first-degree murder by the court. The court ordered that the accused is held in custody without bail till his next hearing on August 9 as he does not have a lawyer yet.

According to TMZ, the victim’s family had sued the accused of wrongful death. They have sued him for damages exceeding $50,000.

It is still unclear what led to the attack by the skateboarder who had been featured in a skateboarding game. The victim and the accused were reportedly friends before Kennedy became famous.
