Ever since the news of Princess Beatrice getting engaged to her boyfriend, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, first came out, there have been several reports about their upcoming wedding in 2020. While the newly engaged couple continues to enjoy the limelight, there’s yet another piece of information that has recently come out.
According to a report on Express, Princess Beatrice will become the stepmum to Edoardo’s 2-year-old son. This will make her the second woman after Camilla Parker Bowles to hold the tag of a “royal” stepmum.
Edoardo was in a relationship with his longtime partner Dara Huang, and the two had stayed together. Their son, Christopher Woolf, will soon become a part of the royal family as he will be Princess Beatrice’s stepson.
Beatrice will join Camilla in taking their partner’s children as their own. Camilla married Prince Charles back in 2005. And after marrying the Prince of Wales, Camilla became the first-ever woman to have the title of royal stepmom to Prince Harry and Prince William, Princess Charles and Princess Diana’s children.
Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo have been great friends as they’ve known each other for a very long time. It wasn’t until last year when they got romantically involved after the former split with his girlfriend, Dara. When Edoardo and Dara called it quits, her mother was taken aback by the news as she didn’t know about the split.
But according to a source close to Daily Mail, the fact that there was a child involved would have cautioned Beatrice to enter into a relationship with Edoardo until she was a hundred percent sure that Edo and Dara weren’t together anymore.
“She would never allow herself to break into another couple's happiness, especially if there was a small child,” said the source about the Princess of York.
“Her Royal Highness and Mr Mapelli Mozzi became engaged while away for the weekend in Italy earlier this month,” announced Buckingham Palace last month. Princess Beatrice will be tying the knot with Edoardo in 2020, and the preparations for their wedding are going on in full swing.
