Prince William Had His Eye On An American Meg Even Before Harry Met His

Like his brother Prince Harry, Prince William was once enamored with an American woman named Meg. This supposedly happened long before Harry met American actress Meghan Markle, who is now the Duchess of Sussex and the mother of his firstborn, Archie Harrison.

In her book “Kate: The Future Queen,” royal correspondent and biographer Katie Nicholl talked about William’s popularity with his female classmates at the University of St. Andrews, where the young royal earned his degree. When William enrolled at the university in 2001, there was a temporary spike in the number of applications, most of which were from young women hoping to meet the future king.

According to Nicholl, many of those women went “to extreme lengths” to meet William. Some of them even went as far as changing their degree program so they could be in his history of art lectures. But before he met Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, William supposedly had his eye on a classmate named Meghann Gunderman.

But unlike many of her female classmates, Meghann was not interested in dating William. “When William asked her out — something he did not do lightly — it came as somewhat of a shock when she declined his advances,” Nicholl wrote.

This apparently only made the prince want the American heiress more. According to a friend from St. Andrews, William kept pursuing Meghann. “He kept saying, ‘Why won’t you go out with me?’ She wasn’t having it,” the friend said.

While it would have been extremely entertaining had both William and Harry ended up with American wives named Meghan/Meghann, things did work out just fine for the Duke of Cambridge. At St. Andrews, he eventually met Kate, and after dating on and off for almost 9 years, the couple wed in 2011. Today, they have three lovely children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

As for Meghann, her World Economic Forum profile indicates that she went on to become the founder and executive director of The Foundation for Tomorrow, an organization that works to provide quality education to children around the world. She is married to retired NFL cornerback Jason Sehorn.
