Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting ready to visit the UK and Germany in the first week of September. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be looking forward to their visit as they are both scheduled to meet with several charities that have long scored a special spot in the royal couple’s hearts.
According to CNN, Harry and Meghan are expected to grace the One Young World 2022 Manchester Summit on Sept 5. The Summit, which brings together young leaders from over 190 countries has invited Meghan to give the keynote address during the opening ceremony being that the Duchess also holds a counselor position in the organization. Their next stop on their UK agenda is to attend the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 preview event in Germany the following day. From there, the couple will fly back to the UK in time for the WellChild Awards 2022 on Sept 8.
There are reports that the couple will likely have Netflix cameras following their every move during their UK trip as this was not the case three months ago when they attended Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations when cameras were not allowed. Royal expert and commentator Natalie Olivieri said this would most probably be the case after having struck a deal with Netflix when the Sussexes quit their royal duties in 2020 and moved to the US.
“After all, for this visit, they have no restrictions imposed by the Royal Family about what they can and cannot film,” Olivieri remarked.
As tensions rise between William and Harry, royal watchers say the Duke of Cambridge seems to be prudently trying to show his statesmanship over his younger brother. He will be flying solo to meet with the winners of last year’s Earthshot Prize Innovation summit in the United States this September. Being a longtime advocate of ecological issues, William is expected to deliver a speech alongside New York City’s former mayor, Michael Bloomberg. It is unclear if the brothers will be able to meet up in New York.
Meanwhile, royal expert Daniela Elser said William is notably making ground in the social-political territories where Harry and Meghan have been unsuccessfully trying to take a foothold. “That William is now undertaking a New York climate event of his very own, and with all the opportunities to flaunt his statesman credentials, may well only inflame family tensions further,” she added.
