Prince Harry has come to terms with his past and is willing to face taunts pertaining to it, head-on. The Duke of Sussex appeared on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast earlier this week and was clearly in the mood to recount his infamous decade-old "wild weekend in Las Vegas".
“You're the only one I ever knew [from the Royal Family] and simply because you were in those awesome nude photos in Vegas,” Shepard told Harry on the podcast. To which the Duke clapped back, “You're constantly looking for other people to balance out your own behavior, right? It's relatable.”
Hello! magazine reported that the podcaster tried to lighten up the vibe by complimenting Harry’s mean abs in the snap, but the prince responded cleverly. “Thank you…That was a few weeks before I went to Afghanistan,” he added. The controversial wild shenanigan remains vivid in the minds of millions of netizens, who were taken aback to find Harry in just a necklace with a naked female playmate hiding behind him after a game of strip billiards in his VIP Las Vegas suite.
Out of a series of leaked photos that were shared, another image that made headlines was of him giving the same woman (who was in the buff) a naked bear hug. The controversy left the British Royal Family red-faced, as US gossip tabloids left no moment wasted in flashing the news, and churning out insipid tales around the same.
While the fiasco remained the podcast’s highlight, Harry also spoke about how it was really hard work for his now-wife Meghan Markle, and himself to keep their romance away from the public and media glare.
“The first time Meghan and I met up for her to come and stay with me, we met up in a supermarket in London, pretending we didn't know each other, so were texting each other from the other side of the aisles,” he said.
The British prince added, “There are people looking at me, giving me all these weird looks, and coming up to me and saying 'hi’. I texted her saying 'is this the right one', and she said, 'no you want parchment paper', and I'm like, 'where's the parchment paper?!'” Adding how it felt to stay private for the initial part; Harry added, “It was nice, I had a baseball cap on, looking down at the floor, trying to stay incognito.”
