Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle plummeted in an opinion poll, suggesting that Americans are turning against them.

According to The Sun, the couple, previously well-liked in America, have sunk in popularity since Harry’s memoir "Spare" released earlier this year. Harry now has an approval rating of just -7 as compared to +38 in early December 2022. His sank to -13 in comparison to +23 over the same period, revealed pollster Redfield & Wilton.

In "Spare," Harry launched a fresh attack on the British Royal Family and also revealed intimate details like how he lost his virginity. Harry made explosive allegations about members of his family, most noticeably his elder brother Prince William. According to Skynews.com.au, in the book, the Duke of Sussex claimed that his brother physically attacked him during a heated altercation. His memoir has also slammed after he claimed to have killed 25 people while he was on duty in Afghanistan. The Iran Foreign Ministry officially even accused him of "war crimes."

The memoir has become the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time. It has topped sales charts around the world, including in the U.S. The poll, which was made up of 2,000 U.S voters, marks a serious backslide in ratings for Harry and Meghan. The couple moved to the U.S. after stepping down from royal duties in March 2020.

Voters were asked whether Harry was right to reveal intimate conversations with his family members in the book. About 44%said that he was wrong, and 26% said that he was right. The poll also found that only a third of the population had not heard anything related to the contents of the memoir, reported Daily Mail.

Harry has been giving many interviews since the book was released. He took part in interviews with Anderson Cooper, Michael Strahan and Stephen Colbert. Still, even some who earlier supported him are beginning to say that the book is excessive, and unnecessarily brutal towards his family members.

This comes as Harry and Meghan become increasingly unpopular in the U.K. A recent poll revealed that 56% of people believe that the couple should lose all their royal titles and patronages. The poll, by YouGov, also revealed that Harry's attacks on his father King Charles, his brother and sister-in-law Kate Middleton have not changed the public's perception of them at all.
