Following the news on the separation of the House of Cambridge and House of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want absolute independence from Buckingham Palace. Apparently, Her Majesty rejected the proposal. Are the Queen and the rest of the royal family threatened by the Sussex’s independence?
Royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan have been breaking a couple of royal traditions in favor of a more cordial royal house. Royal watchers applaud the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for attempting to break royal stereotypes and introduce a new era of royal family.
The next step in ushering a new generation of a more grounded royalty is presumably to seek independence. Prince Harry did seek approval of his plans from the Queen just a few days ago.
Harry apparently envisions a global Sussex brand. The vision is to expand the philanthropic and humanitarian roles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex under their own name. The plan is to open an independent office in Buckingham Palace but free from its jurisdictions.
While the Queen expressed support for the mission and vision of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Queen just couldn’t allow it. Prince Charles shares the same judgement as the Queen’s: he doesn’t want it to happen. Besides, if the independent office pushed through, it will be financed by Her Majesty and the Prince of Wales.
Reports claim that there are institutional policies preventing the independence that the Sussex asks for. Also, the royal couple “can’t just go off and do their own thing,” an insider revealed. Buckingham Palace supports the House of Sussex, which was created to assist the House of Wales.
The Queen and Prince Charles have Buckingham Palace; Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton have Kensington Palace. Where do Prince Harry and Meghan belong? The royal couple’s household will be based at Buckingham Palace, allegedly under the watchful eyes of the Queen. The Palace will hire staff for the House of Sussex.
Meghan is known to be an activist and has been expressing her feminist views in several royal engagements, which actually a royal member is prohibited from doing. Meanwhile, Prince Harry fully supports his wife in her endeavors.
