Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been invited to present an award at the upcoming Oscars. There are speculations of a possible award for Meghan, claims a royal commentator.
Royal commentator Richard Eden referred to the pair's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. "Some might say #Meghan deserves an Oscar of her own for that #Oprah performance," he posted on Twitter following reports the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been asked to hand out the Best Picture award.
A source said, "Harry and Meghan were first approached two years ago for the ceremony but politely declined. Obviously they'd be a huge coup this year, and could use their appearance to make an impassioned speech of their choosing, most likely Ukraine. Show producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowan have lined up some amazing A-list names to take to the stage and Harry and Meghan would be the icing on the cake. It's still up in the air, but in all likelihood — especially in the wake of recent publicity — Harry won't attend."
"It would be seen as a final kick in the teeth for the royal family if he did — he's too nervous to fly to London without police protection, but happy to stand up in front of a huge live audience at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Not great optics," the insider added.
Eden's tweet followed The Sun claiming that show producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowan have lined up an amazing A-list names to take to the stage and Harry and Meghan would be the icing on the cake.
Meanwhile, royal fans have reportedly threatened to boycott the Academy Awards over rumors that Harry and Meghan are being "lined up" to present an award at the star-studded ceremony.
The couple moved to the United States after withdrawing from their duties as senior royals. Since then, they have been involved in multiple news regarding their personal lives. Their interview with Winfrey led to more issues surrounding the Royal Family as well as themselves. Some pointed out Meghan's hand gestures and body language incorporating how their relationship works. Body language expert, Judi James claimed that a subtle hand gesture from Meghan proved Harry's role as guide and protector is now over.
