“A” has been the main nemesis on “Pretty Little Liars” for the past five seasons. However the true identity of him or her has remained a mystery all this time. With an ever growing suspect list and multiple different “A” identities, it’s difficult for fans and even the cast of the series to figure out just who has been torturing the Liars for the past few years. However now, Brendan Robinson, who plays Lucas on “Pretty Little Liars” and one of “A” closest confidantes, revealed he has a few guesses on just who is behind the infamous black hoodie. In an interview with Alloy Entertainment, Robinson, admitted that he thinks Spencer’s older sister, Melissa Hastings might be “A.” “I think that Melissa is definitely a strong possibility,” he said. In addition to his belief that Melissa is “A,” Robinson said that Spencer’s dad, Mr. Hastings could also be in on the “A” game. But his suspicions don’t end there. While Robinson believes that one of the Hastings could be the mastermind behind the troubles in Rosewood, he also believes that Mrs. DiLaurentis was entangled in the “A” issues long before her unfortunate death.
While it is comforting to hear one of the “Pretty Little Liars” cast mates agree with some of our suspicions, nearly every person on the series could be “A,” and fans have suspected them all from, Toby, to Paige and even the highly controversial Aria is “A” theory! While I do believe that Melissa, Mr. Hastings and Mrs. DiLaurentis have played roles in the mystery of “A,” I don’t think any of them are actually uber “A.” None of the three have a good enough motive, why would a father and daughter torture a young Spencer and her teenage friends, additionally if Mrs. DiLaurentis cared about her daughter, Alison, in the slightest she would not blackmail her for years. Instead of any of these suspects actually being “A,” it’s more likely that their actions caused “A” to become the person he or she is. The Bethany Young development has opened many possible plot lines, and the Mr. Hastings and Mrs. DiLaurentis affair will most likely have more serious consequences at the end of the series.
These aren’t the only suspects Robinson has lined up, he also has a crazy “A” theory. “Holly Marie Combs and Chad Lowe, who play Ella and Byron,” he suggested. “They’re in on it together with Mike and Mona. Maybe they’ve told Aria, but she decided not to tell the rest of the girls and is just playing dumb.” While I appreciate the inclusion of Aria being in on the “A” game in this theory, Mike, Ella and Byron being “A” seems completely unlikely. Obviously Mona is deeply connected, and it is interesting that Robinson, who plays Lucas fingered out Mike and Mona. Mainly considering these are the plot lines he is normally included in as the series progresses, so maybe he knows something fans don’t?
