In less than a month, "Pretty Little Liars" will return for its seventh season on Freeform and according to the season synopsis, this will be the most "romantic" yet. Check out these eight things you need to know before the new season premiere of "Pretty Little Liars."
Synopsis
- In this upcoming season, the Liars will band together to unearth answers to the last remaining secrets and take down "Uber A" for good in the most romantic season of "Pretty Little Liars" yet, reports The Futon Critic.
Casting
- The seventh season will see the main characters return, with Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale and Shay Mitchell reprising their roles as Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin, Aria Montgomery and Emily Fields, respectively. Janel Parrish is also confirmed to reprise her role as Mona Vanderwaal.
- Andrea Parker will return to the show as Mary Drake, Jessica DiLaurentis' identical twin sister and biological mother to Charlotte DiLaurentis. The actress has picked up the role as a series regular.
- Entertainment Weekly reports that Nicholas Gonzalez, who is currently be seen on "The Flash," will join the cast as Vic Furey, a new detective in charge of overseeing Rosewood Police Department’s open homicide cases.
Episodes
- The season will consist of 20 episodes, in which 10 episodes will air in the summer of 2016, while the remaining 10 episodes will air in the winter of 2016.
- The first five episode titles have been revealed: "Tick-Tock, Bitches," "Bedlam," "The Talented Mr. Rollins," "Hit and Run, Run, Run" and "Along Comes Mary."
Others
- Fans and the cast both speculate that season seven will be the end of "Pretty Little Liars." In an interview with BuzzFeed, Bellisario said, "This is the beginning of the end. But the best part about these last two years is that, because it’s the beginning of the end, we can actually start telling the story I think we’ve been waiting to tell for a long time." Regarding the show's ending, Hale said to E! News that "Seven seasons will definitely end the show." Showrunner I. Marlene King commented on these rumors to TVLine, and stated, "We have enough story to take us to the end of Season 7, and we’re going to let the fans tell us if they’re ready to say goodbye to this world and these characters."
- Series star Troian Bellisario will make her directorial debut this season. Bellisario is set to direct episode 15 of "Pretty Little Liars" during the second half of the season.
