‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season 5 Spoilers: Christmas Episode Will Be Written And Directed By Marlene King

Santa Claus is coming to Rosewood and apparently bringing Marlene King! The show runner revealed that “Pretty Little Liars” was going to have a Christmas episode on Twitter, King is notable for being rather cryptic over Twitter, and she particularly enjoys providing fans small spoiler tid-bits. On Oct. 28, a fan tweeted King writing, "Someday I really, really want a Pretty Little Liars Christmas episode it would be the cutest thing ever please @imarleneking make it happen!" It seems the mystery and fun of “PLL” is something that comes natural to King who coyly responded, "Season 5."

The excitement of the Christmas special does come with a bit of sacrifice. It will take the place of the tradition Halloween special. Although the lack of ghoulish fun doesn’t seem to be dampening King’s festive spirits, “I’m so excited,” she told TV Line. “I’ve been trying to make a Christmas episode for four years, so I’m thrilled.” The Christmas episode will unfortunately replace the annual Halloween episode, which “Pretty Little Liars” fans have grown to love, however, the yuletide special may take the holiday-themed episode cake, because recent reports have stated that Marlene King herself will be writing and directing the episode!

Revisiting her active Twitter once again, King tweeted “I am extremely excited to write the PLL Christmas episode. And I'm directing that one too!” It’s a Christmas miracle! King has found herself in the director’s chair more frequently as of late, the show runner has directed the Season 4 finale “A is For Answers,” the Season 4 premiere “Who’s in the Box?” and Season 3, episode 16 “Misery Loves Company.” While the Christmas special is set to be more whimsical than her previous directorial debuts, King teased that there will most certainly be some “Pretty Little Liars” fun featuring none other than Ezra!

In addition to the Christmas gift that Marlene is hand delivering to the dedicated fans of her series with the highly anticipated Christmas special, she is also trying to get Ezra in his boxers, something that is at the top of every “PLL” fans Christmas list. That’s right, Marlene teased Ezra fans revealing, “I’m trying to find a way to get Ezra Fitz into Santa boxers. Ian said he’d actually wear them if I could make it happen.” Santa boxers? Talk about Christmas spirit.
