Season 5 of “Pretty Little Liars” is set to be a season to remember in addition to the return of Alison to Rosewood, the series celebrated it’s 100th episode, and now it has begun production on it’s first ever Christmas episode which will premiere for the 2014 holiday season. But just because we are switching holidays for the special episode, doesn't mean “Pretty Little Liars” is leaving behind any of the spookiness signature to the series annual Halloween episodes. Instead the highly anticipated Christmas episode may be one of the scariest episodes of Season 5 yet, mainly because a new spoiler reports reveals that one of our dead “PLL” characters may be coming back from the dead!
That’s right, “Pretty Little Liars” showrunner Marlene King has revealed that Mrs. DiLaurentis was back on set for the Christmas episode. But fans recently watched the death and subsequent burial of Mrs. DiLaurentis in the Season 4 finale, so what’s the deal? Well, here’s what we know. Mrs. DiLaurentis was killed by “A” and buried in the same place Ali was buried by Mrs. DiLaurentis after “A” tired to kill her. Since then, Mrs. DiLaurentis had a funeral and now rests in the Rosewood Cemetery.
The death certainly seemed final, but so did Ali’s for a time being. Marlene King, who enjoys teasing the dedicated legion of “PLL” fans, posted a hazy photo of Mrs. DiLaurentis on Instagram. Now, admittedly the photo could have just been in Alison’s room, or the DiLaurentis house, but the caption leads us to believe Mrs. D may rise from the grave. King captioned the photo, “Love having this lady back on set. #CreepyMrsD.” So is she actually coming back in the flesh, probably not.
But fans should anticipate several flashbacks in the Christmas special featuring none other than Mrs. DiLaurentis. Hopefully the episode, which is written and directed by Marlene King, will provide fans some insight into the past relationship between Alison’s mother and Bethany Young. Wetpaint reports that “Pretty Little Liars” may draw some inspiration for Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol” and provide insightful flashbacks from a Christmas past, hopefully involving Bethany Young and Radley Sanatorium!
