Former First Lady Michelle Obama delivered an impassioned speech virtually at the Democratic National Convention on Monday night. But, President Trump was far from pleased and dissed Obama for allegedly messing up the COVID-19 related fatality rates. The United States had logged in 170,568 deaths up until Tuesday -- a spike of 20,000 cases from the figures that were mentioned in her speech.

Trump also criticized the African-American attorney for cutting some slack by prerecording an outdated speech. “She was over her head, and, frankly, she should've made the speech live, which she didn’t do,” said Trump to reporters at the press briefing early on Tuesday.

“She taped it. And it was not only taped, but it was also taped a long time ago because she had the wrong deaths,” he added. Ironically, Trump’s accusations indicated how his administration suffered a monumental failure in combating the spread of the highly contagious virus.

In the pre-recorded no-holds-barred DNC speech; Obama cited how the ineptitude ways of the Trump administration was to blame for the viral outbreak to have spiraled out of control in the U.S.

“More than 150,000 people have died, and our economy is in shambles because of a virus that this president downplayed for too long,” she said. “Too many have lost their healthcare. Too many are struggling to take care of basic necessities like food and rent. Too many communities have been left in the lurch to grapple with whether and how to open our schools safe,” she added.

The speech resonated with millions of Americans, who continue to languish in confusion after the pandemic threw their lives and finances out of gear. Approximately 5.4 million Americans have been infected by the virus. Critics of the current government are of the opinion that easing the lockdowns across several states has led to the spike in infections.

Trump has downplayed the pandemic in the past, advocated the benefits of a scientifically unbacked drug Hydroxychloroquine, and declared how it was safe to flout the social distancing rules when it was far from safe, at a time when the country was nowhere close to flattening the curve.
