Univision is ready to kick off the musical extravaganza with Premios Juventud 2017, the award show where millennials have the power to determine their winners. This year, the event will be hosted by various celebrities like Alejandra Espinoza, Danilo Carrera, Jesse & Joy, Chyno and Leslie Grace. All the fun and excitement will go down live from the Watsco Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. Before the main event the red carpet with "Noche de Estrellas" will guide viewers through the best and worst fashion moments starting at 7pm/6c followed by the gala at 8pm/7c. Live streaming of the show will be possible through the UnivisionNOW app.
Performing for the first time in a Latin network in the U.S. is Iggy Azalea who will bring her new hits to the party. Also joining the lineup is DNCE, Maluma, J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Gente de Zona, De La Ghetto, Wisin, Farruko, Jacob Forever, Ozuna, and Zion y Lennox. The duo that was Chyno y Nacho will be going solo and Calibre 50 and Ulices Chaidez y sus Plebes will also be at the event. Other confirmed performers include Enrique Iglesias, Yandel, Silvestre Dangond, Carlos Rivera, Arcángel and Sebastián Yatra.
This year the youth will be honored for their continued struggle and community work with the "Agentes de Cambio" award. Wilver Valderrama will be one of the celebrities that will have the honor to celebrate the outstanding work of the youth. Joining the former "That 70s Show" star is "Orange Is The New Block" actress Diane Guerrero. The six "Agentes de Cambio" are Iván Ceja (26) and Justino Mora (28) from Compton, California, Dante Alvarado León (22) from Berkeley, California, Sarahí Espinosa Salamanca (27) from Palo Alto, California, Xiuhtezcatl Martínez (17) from Boulder, Colorado and Nalleli Cobo (16) from Los Ángeles, California.
Premios Juventud has taken on a change of format for this year's show opting to focus on music and dropping categories from pop culture like telenovelas and sports. “Premios Juventud 2017 will celebrate the best musical talent that appeals to the young Latino audience in a revamped format with fresh and fun categories,” said Univision’s President of Music Jorge “Pepo” Ferradas. “We will further connect with the younger generation by inviting new artists and recognizing important issues and amazing individuals who make our world a better place.”
One of the top categories of the night is the Perfect Combo where a musical duet is honored. This year the following songs are nominated: Carlos Vives & Shakira for "La Bicicleta", Enrique Iglesias & Descemer Bueno & Zion y Lennox for "Súbeme La Radio", Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee for "Despacito", Ricky Martin & Maluma for "Vente Pa' Ca", Shakira & Maluma for "Chantaje" and Zion y Lennox & J Balvin for "Otra Vez."
Another fun category is Best Song For Dancing where the following scored a nod: "Chantaje" by Shakira (Ft. Maluma), "Hey Ma" by Pitbull & J Balvin (Ft. Camila Cabello), "Las Ultras" by Calibre 50, "Shaky Shaky" by Daddy Yankee, "Vacaciones" by Wisin and "Ya No Me Duele Más" by Silvestre Dangond (Ft. Farruko).
