Former President Donald Trump's 2024 campaign is said to have decided not to hire anyone who works for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, including on a potential presidential bid.
Trump aide Justin Caporale is said to have confirmed the decision that they will be ineligible to join the Trump campaign or another Trump White House, reported NBC News.
It is a warning shot to political operatives who are mulling their next move.
According to RealClearPolitics, sources shared that Caporale has said that anyone who staffed a recent DeSantis book tour will be considered "persona non grata."
A top Trump ally said that the prohibition would apply to more than just the junior aides who were tasked with hanging banners and setting up folding chairs.
The source said that it's a "time for choosing," and that if a person works for "DeSantis' presidential race, you will not work for the Trump campaign or in the Trump White House."
Caporale, who worked for DeSantis' 2018 gubernatorial campaign and in his administration as director of external affairs, is back in Trump's inner circle.
Other members of Trump's world have also previously worked for DeSantis, including Susie Wiles, who is a top aide of the former President.
DeSantis is yet to announce a presidential bid, but he has repeatedly hinted that he's interested in the White House race.
His allies have said that he doesn't plan to declare a possible candidacy until at least June. That is after Florida's legislative session is over. He remains well below Trump in polls that measure the prospective Grand Old Party primary field.
Trump's camp warning about future hiring could affect people like Matt Wolking. He is a former Trump campaign staffer who announced Monday that he is joining a DeSantis-aligned super PAC.
Wolking said that Trump was the President that the people of America "needed 8 years ago, but to make America great again, our movement needs a disciplined leader." He shared that America needs someone who "wins instead of loses, never backs down, fights smart, and puts the mission before himself."
According to him, on each count, "DeSantis is the strongest choice."
As for Trump, he held the first major rally of his 2024 Presidential campaign Saturday in Waco, Texas. He spoke to thousands of his supporters on the tarmac of a regional airport.
During the event, he also attacked DeSantis. He mocked the Governor for not yet announcing a run for the White House and denouncing his policies like his handling of the Covid pandemic.
Sharing his opinion of DeSantis, Trump said after the rally that he has got no personality, and that "tends to be bad for a politician."
He also claimed that if he hadn't helped DeSantis' gubernatorial campaign, he would be "probably working at a cigar store or a law firm."
