It’s not enough that we’re obsessed with Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” featuring Juicy J, especially after their performance at the Grammys, and later Vin Diesel showed off his “dance moves” to it. But, now there’s an unofficial (for now) remix going around that has us even more hooked to Katy’s dark magic. It turns out Mr. Worldwide, Mr. 305, Pitbull or whatever you prefer to call him, recorded a few verses that were added instead of Juicy J’s rap.
Like MTV said, Katy Perry got the “Miami treatment” with this collaboration, and we have to add that it’s actually pretty cool, and Pitbull, who has the “Midas Touch” when it comes to hits, is sure going to bring this song to a whole new audience. Don’t get confused, we’re not saying we don’t already love the original version (kudos to Juicy J!). It is still unsure if this version, which was leaked online, is going to become official but what we know is that it was recorded with authorization of producers and the team behind Katy Perry.
It was the song’s producer, Dr. Luke, who first hinted the Pitbull version existed. He took it to Twitter earlier this month to say “@pitbull, great verse on #DarkHorse!!!! @katyperry." Luke had to clarify later that the Pitbull version isn’t the official one. “Just to clarify ... the only collaboration on Dark Horse is the original with my man @therealjuicyj!!!!” And although we hope it becomes official, there’s a lot more “Dark Horse” featuring Juicy J that we still haven’t seen, like the music video.
"It's a movie, man. It's a major motion picture," Juicy told Billboard in an interview. "I know a lot about the video. I got the treatment. I can't really tell you because it's definitely going to be a surprise, but I'll tell you this much right here: You've seen her other videos. This one's gonna be just as big. Everything she does is like grade A."
