Week 5 of the NFL sees the Philadelphia Eagles (1-3) traveling to New York to square off against the Giants (0-4) in what promises to be an all-out war between the longtime rivals. The season is on the line for both squads, though the as-yet-winless Giants are in particularly dire straits, while the Eagles -- despite getting blown out last week against the Broncos - are actually only one game back in their division. They've looked better than the Giants this season, but they say they aren't taking for granted a win over them in Week 5. Scroll down to see where to watch the live stream.
"I can't look past the Giants," said running back LeSean McCoy. "We have to focus on that game. They're 0-4, but on tape they don't look that bad." The Eagles, who've been racking up big numbers in total yards -- second in the NFL with an average of 458.8 -- have been having trouble in the red zone and are only 12th in the league in points, with 24.8 per game. Coach Chip Kelly said after his squad got thumped by the Broncos last week that if it wasn't for penalties and dropped passes, they'd be in good shape. "I still think we're stopping ourselves," Kelly told CBS. "We are not getting stopped by a scheme and we are not getting stopped by a look. I think we've been in situations where we've driven the football and we've proven we can drive the football. This past week, it was the penalties and drops."
But the Eagles have been pretty bad on defense too -- 31st in the league in passing yards allowed (325 per game) and 26th against the run (121 yards per game), with a league-worst 446.8 yards per game and 31st in points allowed with 34.5 per game. That could be a ray of light for the Giants, whose offense had been pretty bad this year -- only seven points over the last two games -- but which many suspect to be playing far beneath its ability. There's one area in particular where the Giants could do serious damage: the deep ball, the first thing Chip Kelly mentioned when he was asked about Giants quarterback Eli Manning last week. "From Eli, the one thing you marvel at is just how accurate he is. He may be the best deep‑ball thrower in the game," Kelly said.
Those who elect to catch the game on television can tune in to the NFL Network at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday, Oct. 6. If you're watching it on an online live stream, you can visit NFL.com or follow this link.
