Women who are pregnant should not eat chicken wings! According to the animal rights group PETA, women who consume wings while pregnant will give birth to male babies with small penises. PETA recorded the correlation between chicken wings and small penises in a letter sent to the founder of the National Buffalo Wings Festival, Drew Creza.

The letter which attempted to ruffle feathers at the annual festival held in Buffalo, New York was from PETA's Lindsay Rajt who wrote, "the latest scientific evidence shows that the sons of pregnant women who consume chicken are more likely to have smaller penises because of a chemical found in the birds flesh." The letter continued, "Findings published by the Study for Future Families showed that eating poultry during pregnancy may lead to smaller penis size in male infants. In addition, eating cholesterol-laden chicken flesh during pregnancy may also increase unborn babies' risk of being born with blocked arteries, which can lead to strokes and heart attacks later in life."

PETA's letter indicates solely chicken wings as the worst offender however, Women's Health magazine revealed that Study for Future Families did not actually look at chicken wing consumption. Instead the study did identify a link between prenatal phthalate exposure and penis size, with spices and fast food packaging being the worst culprits.

Shanna Swan Ph.D. who conducted the research for Study for Future Families told Women's Health, "I think any link between eating buffalo wings-even by pregnant women-and the size of their son's genitals is very tenuous." Despite PETA's shocking tactic to deter festival goers to dig into to chicken wings, food fans at Buffalo's Wing Festival consumed over 40 tons of chicken! And while the festival is a celebration of the chicken-wing and its apparent penis shrinking hazard the festival did however a meatless alternative for the first times in 12 years.
