Marquez, 22, was complaining that his new girlfriend wasn't paying enough attention to him, got angry and posted the ad titled "Baby for Sale" in Craigslist's "Baby and Kids" section to allegedly get back at her.

The typo-ridden post included his phone number, his 19-year-old girlfriend's name, Katie Devalle, and a picture of her baby.

"Heyy I have a 2 month old baby," the ad read. "She loves to play nd have her little fun but there is only 1 problem, the doctor said that she has asthma nd if she turns a certain way she can stop breathing, she's really getting on my nerves nd I don't want her."

The posting was flagged and removed at least once, but Marquez reposted it. At least one person contacted the young man interested in buying the baby, and he passed along Devalle's phone number. Authorities are looking into the caller's identity, but they say the call may have been out of concern and not an illegal attempt to purchase the child.

"The reason I decided to put this post was because I got bored and wanted to get a little laugh and a little kick out of it, but nothing serious," Marquez told detectives, according to a police source.

Paul Marquez was arrested and is being held on $1,000 bail. He is charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. He is also charged with a social service violation of authority to place or board out children. He faces up to a year in jail if convicted.

Marquez is the father of a 2-year-old girl and reportedly met Devalle in an online dating site where they shared pictured of their babies.
