Genesis Rodriguez had kept mum on her social networks following the death of her "Hours" co-star, Paul Walker. Her Twitter account had been updated with a smiley face on November 30th, the day Walker died in a horrific car accident, but was soon deleted in the hours following the news. Paul's "Fast and Furious" co-stars were quick to express their sentiments on the wake of the devastating event. Genesis, who was scheduled to do press rounds with Walker in support of their upcoming film together had not given a public statement until today. "Although I only knew Paul for a short time, his compassion for others and positive outlook on life were an inspiration," she wrote on her WhoSay account. "His smile could brighten any day. He will be remembered for the beautiful mark he left on the world. Rest in peace my friend."
Paul Walker and Genesis Rodriguez star in "Hours" that is set in 2005, during Hurricane Katrina. Nolan (Walker) is the father of a newborn baby, and what should be one of the happiest days of Nolan's life quickly spirals out of control during the wake of a hurricane that floods the hospital and causes failures in the power supply, Nolan faces a life-or-death situation when no one returns to help and struggles on his own to keep his infant daughter alive inside a Neonatal incubator, as minute-by-minute passes, the incubator runs out of power and the minutes become long hours. "I never knew it could be like that, there was no differentiation between what was real and what was fake," he told Fandango in an interview. The film was released in the U.S. on December 13 in select theatres and on-demand.
The "Fast and Furious" actor was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood with Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges in attendance. Walker's death certificate was released and confirms that the actor died from the "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries," according to E! News. An investigation is still undergoing to find details on what exactly caused the accident.
