Actress Paty Navidad was in the middle of a health scare scandal when a Mexican tabloid published she had a deadly brain tumor. Navidad, who has been in telenovelas such as “Marimar,” “María Mercedes,” “La Fea Más Bella” and “Por Ella Soy Eva,” among others, denied the rumors that she was going to die. She opened up to El Universal, and said “They exaggerated a lot! It was as if I had said ‘I have a cold’ and then they published that I was dying from pneumonia. Goodness gracious it’s not like that!”
“One day I’ll die, like everyone else, but I’m not going to die from a brain tumor like they said, nor anytime soon – I hope – but they didn’t say that it was a prolactin-related issue,” she said. Prolactin is the substance with which breast milk is generated and when a woman has no way of getting the milk out of her body, prolactin accumulates and goes to the hypophysis or pituitary gland.
She stressed that many women aren’t even aware that they could too, suffer from the same thing she’s suffering and won’t realize it until symptoms start. Paty says she had unbearable migraines and insomnia and that’s why she decided to see a doctor. At first, health professionals didn’t see anything wrong in her lab results, and it wasn’t until endocrinologists and neurologists took a closer look at some brain studies performed by a neuropsychiatrist that they finally found what it was.
Currently, she visits all of the doctors plus her gynecologist regularly, and they have her under medication. Although Paty claims it’s a harsh treatment, she also adds that it can help eliminate the tumor. The reason why tabloids exploded with the news was because the tumor, if untreated, can lead to thyroid problems as well as loss of sight if it grows too much. But since Paty is taking all the measurements needed to get rid of it, she says chances of it getting worst are null.
The actress added that she got very angry at the news outlet that wrote she was going to die because it scared her family and loved ones, who were aware of the issue, but didn’t think it was a major concern. “It’s definitely not a deadly matter,” she highlighted. Hopefully she’ll continue her treatment and gets better sooner than expected!
