Police arrested an Osceola County woman on Saturday amid ties to the murder of her mother, whose lifeless body was found with blunt-force trauma injuries and stab wounds at her home in the Orlando suburb of Kissimmee.
The suspect, Natalie Marie Gonzalez, 31, faces first-degree premeditated murder charges after she confessed to hitting and killing her mother and victim, Jacqueline Negron, with a hammer, after mistaking her for someone else, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office confirmed as per Wesh2.
Investigations began on Saturday when a distraught 911 caller asked for police assistance on a home along Windy Dune Court in Kissimmee.
"She won't die... She's going to die," the 911 caller reportedly said to the operator, according to Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez.
Responding officers said they stumbled upon the victim in the shower with blunt-force trauma injuries and stab wounds. The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office later found that the victim had sustained a large skull fracture to the back of her head after being bludgeoned to death, according to Law&Crime.
“Jacqueline’s hair appeared to have been recently cut with scissors, as there were obvious cuts made in her hair and clusters of hair on the body and the floor of the bathroom," deputies noted.
Sheriff Lopez added that Gonzalez was still holding a hammer and pair of scissors when they arrived, noting the woman allegedly refused to drop her weapons. Police then moved to detain the flustered assailant to remove the threat to their safety.
Cops said the woman had also been repeatedly apologizing to authorities and in front of her mother's corpse. She would later tell law enforcement that she considered her mother to be her best friend.
Following her arrest, Gonzalez insisted she had to do what she did to protect herself. She claimed she thought that Becca, the mother of her niece, disguised herself in her mother's clothes. The suspect further contended the woman had allegedly abducted her.
However, it remains unconfirmed if the 31-year-old had been abducted by the said individual.
As of Sunday, no jail records listing an attorney for Gonzalez were available, the Sun-Sentinel reported. Gonzalez, who was due to front court on Sunday but failed to do so because she was very agitated, had her first appearance rescheduled for Monday.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information related to the case or any other similar incidents to reach out to authorities by dialing 407-348-2222 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
