The young student Paloma Noyola who was touted as 'the next Steve Jobs' by Wired Magazine in their November 2013 issue has been given her own house. Matamoros mayor Lety Salazar handed Paloma the keys to her family's new home last week, thanks to a joint effort between civil society and government to recognize the talent of this matamorense girl. The fifth grader rose to prominence after she scored first place in math and third place in Spanish on a national test.
Paloma Noyola thanked Mayor Lety Acosta Salazar and the Grupo Verde, who donated the property for the new home, which will definitely improve living conditions for her and her family. "Paloma shows us that when one fights for one's dreams, when one strives and is truly eager to study, the rewards will come. Now you and your family and have this house, which will allow them to live in much better conditions, better infrastructure and better services ," said the Mayor of Matamoros.
Months ago the Mayor of Matamoros visited the house where Paloma was living with her family and found that access was difficult, especially in the rainy season, and also found that the conditions of the property far from safe. She thus decided to find a way of getting Paloma and her family a new home. The new home of Paloma Noyola was donated by the Acosta Verde group and the company's COO commented that it gives him great pleasure to contribute to this cause, especially considering that Paloma is such an example to follow.
