Oscars 2025 red carpet: Best and worst dressed

Fashion at the 2025 Oscars was an exercise in extremes, with men playing with more fury than women. Classic and even predictable cuts were mixed with unexpected choices. Some looks were excellent. Others were awful. As always, the Latinos were spectacular.

As we've been seeing on the red carpet this awards season, black has been the color of choice for most women, along with monochromatic tones and metallic fabrics. Since it's the Oscars, some women opted for different shades of gold and dusty rose.

This last color seemed to be an attempt to match the red carpet decor, which was closer to rose gold than any other metallic shade. One of those who embraced this trend was Ariana Grande, but she was not the only one. Pink was strongly present even when worn under nude tulle, like the classic dress worn by actress and dancer Julianne Hugh.

The trend of men with a greater sense of adventure when talking about fashion was also repeated on the red carpet, as in the case of Jeff Goldblum, who continued to play with the colours of his film 'Wicked' and arrived accompanied by his partner, the Canadian dancer Emilie Livingston, and an orchid in his lapel.

One of the surprises was Ariana's sculptural dress, which divided opinions on whether it suited her (although more so than the Baftas one, without a doubt). Elle Fanning maintained her title of one of the best dressed of the awards season and Whoopi Goldberg wore a dress made of such a magical fabric, it didn't matter if the silhouette was the best for her (We think not).

Also wearing metallic fabrics and colours were Mindy Kaling, nominees Demi Moore and Felicity Jones and Selena Gomez. The latter was accompanied by her fiancé and musical collaborator Benny Blanco.

The one who did manage to impress with a fabric that looked like liquid steel, but with a look that was perfect for her, was the British actress and nominee in the Best Supporting Actress category, Felicity Jones, who wore silver. Mindy Kaling also arrived in silver, but with much more texture.

Among the first Latinos to arrive were Mexican-American singer-songwriter Omar Apollo, who made his acting debut last year in 'Queer,' Oscar nominee Fernanda Torres, and Spanish actress and now filmmaker Paz Vega, who is remembered for her starring role in the most recent version of 'Cuna de Lobos.'

News in development.

All three were dressed in black and very elegant, but not boring. Zoe Saldana once again arrived in the color of the season: Chocolate brown. Meanwhile, the only Mexican actress in 'Emilia Pérez', Adriana Paz, surprised with one of the few outfits that was out of the norm in its structure and color: A fiery red that looked wonderful on her.

Two of the English artists of the moment are Joe Locke (Agatha All Along) and Joe Alwyn (The Brutalist). Both arrived early and dressed in black, an interesting mix of traditional attire with a twist.

The name of the night, Oscars host Connan O'Brian looked dapper, but his best accessory was his big smile.

Lupita Nyong'o, nominated for 'Bad Robot', was one of the few who dared to wear white.

Among the best dressed was South Korean artist Lisa. Wilhem Dafoe and Edgar Ramirez also shined among the men.

Among the first group to grace the 2025 Oscars Red Carpet was Mexican-American presenter Mario López, who put an interesting twist on the traditional tuxedo by wearing a petrol blue jacket.
Here are all those who chose to arrive early.
