OnePlus has done its share in trying to gain a piece of the mobile phone market. But like other companies, extending to other niches is among their goals.
One market that OnePlus has been frequently rumored to invading is the tablet market. Although Apple and many others have been known to dominate the market, it appears the Chinese company will be starting to join the party in 2023.
This comes after Max Jambor reported on Twitter how the company holds the patent for the “OnePlus Pad.” The writer goes on to claim that the said tablet is set to debut next year.
OnePlus established itself as a flagship killer, offering high-end devices at a lower price. They are now a straightforward brand and have expanded its product offerings across multiple price categories.
Hence, it only makes sense that OnePlus would do the same in the tablet market. Aside from mobile phones, the company has also covered other niches that include smartwatches and TWS earphones.
And while that makes sense, there is another matter in the minds of techies. Will the OnePlus Pad be an entirely new device or will it be a rebranded Oppo tablet?
This raises questions about the Oppo Pad which is armed with a Snapdragon 870 processor and an 8,360 mAh. Could this come out once again but under a new name?
Beyond the processor and battery, other features the OnePlus Pad could carry include dual rear cameras, a 13MPI primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. An 8MP camera could be also present at the front, something that would be ideal for people who love to take selfies.
OnePlus may also offer support for 45-watt fast-charging capabilities and the device could run on Android 12L out of the box.
While interesting to tablet users, it would be best to note that OnePlus has yet to confirm anything about the OnePlus Pad coming out anytime soon.
