OnePlus One will receive a major CyanogenMod 11S system update (O5Q release) for Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The latest over-the-air (OTA) update is designed to offer a number of major fixes for the "Flagship Killer" smartphone.
We expect the latest update to be the final Android 4.4.4-based update before the OnePlus One upgrades to the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop system. Obviously, early adaptors that cannot stand waiting for Android 5.0 Lollipop to arrive OTA can manually install the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop via the CyanogenMod 12 nightly ROM build. However, we recommend users to backup their phones before executing the manual install.
As for the CyanogenMod 11S OTA update for Android 4.4.4, notable improvements include updated media codes, security fixes, NFC updates, and OnePlus integration SwiftKey and MaxxAudio by Waves. Camera improvements include three video focus options: auto, continuous, and infinity. Finally, the latest update also removes obsolete features such as unused key layouts, references to non-existent ringtones, unused strings in CMAccount, and the option for a silent alarm ringtone. Translations have also been improved in Apollo, CMAccount, and the system in general.
