“One Punch Man” season 3 has yet to be announced and there is little update on when this may happen.
Although there is an abundance of content available considering it has about 24 volumes, production on the further adventures of Saitama has hardly come out.
Hence, the best for anime fans to do right now is to wait. Also, they can still look back at the first two seasons as well as the prequel about Saitama.
The prequel was released in 2015, something that sets the stage for “One Punch Man.”
With little to no update on “One Punch Man,” the best to consider for now is the available materials and how the first two seasons performed.
As of Jan. 22, there have been 24 volumes of the manga, proof that there is more than enough material to produce. Yusuke Murata published the latest volume in Japan on December 3, 2021.
Hence, this shifts to the question of why season 3 has been taking so long to come out? Of course, there are several factors, one of which is the pandemic which has forced everyone to be on limited movement.
Assuming as well that things somehow normalize or are addressed, the best to expect for the third season is to use volumes 17 to 24.
The first season adapted volumes 1 to 8 while the second season did 9 to 16.
As far as performance in sales, the One Punch Man Blu-ray sold roughly 10,500 copies per disk for the first season. The second season dropped to only 1,300 copies sold.
The figures could improve and there are a lot of factors as well. Some may be holding off their spending prowess due to the pandemic, some even losing their jobs. That could pick up soon.
But the fact remains that there are copies in print for OPM as well as available merchandise. In all, “One Punch Man” has shown good financial figures so there is no reason to consider why a third season won’t be coming.
At any rate, the earliest to expect a “One Punch Man” Season 3 is by the last quarter of 2022. Updates should come in the following months, meaning anime fans will just have to wait and see.
