“Once Upon a Time” season three will return Sunday, March 9 to ABC. When the show comes back on air we will see the introduction to a new villain in the form of L. Frank Baum’s classic villain the Wicked Witch of the West from “The Wizard of Oz.” “Lost” alum Rebecca Mader has been casted as the green deliciously evil green witch! Now TV Line is reporting that the show runners of OUAT is also looking to cast the Wicked Witch of the West nemesis, Glinda the Good Witch of the North.
The “Once Upon a Time” casting notice describes Glinda as elegant, warm and benevolent. It also describes her as wise, clever and shrewd but years of isolation have left her lonely and cautious though her heart is still filled with optimism. The casting notice also says the actress who plays Glinda should be in her mid- to late-20’s. That is interesting seeing how Glinda is typically portrayed to be older. Zap2it makes a good point when saying Glinda could perhaps only be used in flashbacks to the land of OZ, rather than the enchanted forest or Storybrooke.
A few casting ideas have been floating around such as “Lost” alum Elizabeth Mitchell, although she is casted on NBC’s “Revolution” or Kristen Chenoweth. It will be interesting to see in which capacity Glinda will play when “Once Upon a Time” returns this March. Meanwhile it has been revealed that Rose McGowan will return as Cora in the second half of OUAT. It has also been rumored that Pirate Black Beard would make an appearance and perhaps be Captain Hooks nemesis.
Who would you like to see play Glinda, the Good Witch of the North in OUAT?
