Olga Tañon is devastated with the death of her father, José Esteban, who passed away Tuesday at the age of 94 due to natural causes. Despite the tough times that the Puerto Rican singer and her family are going through, Tañon is grateful that her dad lived a long and healthy life.
The 48-year-old merengue powerhouse expressed her feelings in a heartfelt message on social media, where she broke the sad news to her beloved fans. "Today our hero has left. His legacy, a wonderful one! We are more than thankful with life for have giving us this extraordinary man as a father. We're left with his immense love, his knowledge and many beautiful life lessons," she wrote on Instagram. "Dad, you're already with God, rest and wait for us!," she added, asking her father to protect the whole family from above, including his children, his grandchildren, his nieces and nephews and his wife, whom he was married to for over 50 years.
Fans showered Tañon's comments with sympathy messages, to which she responded with a thank you message as well. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers," she wrote. May Mr. Tañon rest in peace!
