Oklahoma state senator Nathan Dahm refused to back down over misogynistic sex joke about Vice President Kamala Harris. Sen. Dahm stated on his twitter account on Friday that he had no plans on being "politically correct" and claimed to have been told that his jokes "are hilarious".
Dahm told Oklahoma City TV staton KTUL-TV about a bill proposing a ban on paper straws. "You can’t use a paper straw for a milkshake but maybe Kamala Harris could because of her vast experience, maybe she would be able to get that accomplished."
The state lawmaker explaining about the news release that he had issued on Earth Day said: "fall apart and turn to mush quicker than Joe Biden trying to string together a coherent sentence. They collapse like Mitt Romney under the slightest amount of pressure, and even with Kamala Harris...well, never mind."
Dahm claimed he was being an "equal opportunist" by mocking Biden and Romney. He said via his Harris joke, viewers could "figure out how she got trajection into politics." He was referring to unconfirmed rumors that the Vice President had advanced her career by dating influential men who could help her, rather than by her own accomplishments.
House Minority Leader Emily Virgin, a Democrat, called out Dahm's remarks as "despicable." "This is not the attitude or the feeling of the vast majority of people at the State Capitol," she said. Others who called out Dahm include State Senator Jessica Garvin, a Republican, Oklahoma state Rep. Ajay Pittman, a Democrat, and Senate Pro Tempore Greg Treat, a Republican.
