Rapper Offset, 30, is still reeling over the death Takeoff, who was his cousin and Migos bandmate.
On Thursday, he didn't mention his cousin, but tweeted that he was “in a dark place,” and followed it up with a middle finger emoji.
His fans offered words of encouragement to him. The tweet comes more than a month after his cousin, who was 28, was fatally shot inside a Texas bowling alley. One fan told him to take all the time he needs, and that "everyone processes grieve differently." The fan wished him "strength and continued prayers,” reported Page Six. Another hoped that it "gets better for you. One step at a time." Another social media user said that the late rapper was watching over his cousin, and "he is proud of you. Stay strong Set.”
Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was shot and killed on Nov. 1 after his uncle, Quavo, got into a verbal fight with a group of men. Earlier this month, Houston police announced that they had arrested and charged Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, with murder for the rapper's death. Letitia Quinones, who is Clark’s defense attorney, maintains that her client is innocent. She also requested a bail review hearing to try to reduce his $2 million bond to a “reasonable amount” for Clark, who doesn’t have a criminal history. In connection to the fatal shooting, Cameron Joshua, 22, was also arrested and charged with the unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Following Takeoff's death, his lawyer, Drew Findling, issued a statement to HollywoodLife. He wrote that he was devastated by the "tragic death" of Takeoff, who was not only a "brilliant musical artist with unlimited talent but also a uniquely kind and gentle soul. He will be greatly missed now and always.”
Houston Police chief Troy Finner had also said during a press conference that they had lost a "good man,” and that everybody in the hundreds of people that he talked to "spoke about what a great individual he was." He thanked the rapper's family and everybody else for their patience and for allowing the cops to "work through the evidence and the facts.”
