Unless you are a hardcore fan, you must have realized that Obie Bermúdez has been M.I.A. (missing in action) in the limelight -- 10 years to be exact! After his last studio album, "Lo que trajo el barco" released in 2006, Obie makes his comeback to the music scene with a new production titled "#Cambios."
The album, which launched the first week of April, is making the rounds with a positive tune called "Vida de colores," the first single off the production. "I was filled with inspiration and the 'Cambios' was born," said Bermúdez on Miami's local radio station La Nueva I-95.7 Wednesday morning. The album is home to 11 fresh tracks, written between 2011 and 2015. One of Bermúdez's favorite track in his new production is called "Cuando el silencio hace ruido." "I'm happy to offer new music," he added.
In the midst of working on his new album, writing fresh music, and taking a 10-year break from the biz, the 35-year-old singer revealed some of the things that happened during his hiatus. "I became a father," he said of his 8-year-old son and 2-month-old daughter he has with Texas-based songstress Jennifer Peña. "Besides being with my family, I did some theater in New York with Paul Simon. I love theater, it's an opportunity to act, dance, sing," he told the radio personalities. "I also filmed a movie in Puerto Rico, which will premiere at the ending of this year," he said, adding that on top of everything, he focused on his family.
For Bermúdez, who became an international success in 2003 with his hit single "Antes," music is a state of mind. "Since the beginning, music was never a way for me to gain fame," he said. "Music for me is therapy, it comes from the heart. I do it because I like to touch people's hearts," he shared, stating that he writes music without the intention of winning and award or becoming a No. 1 hit. "One of the most beautiful things that I like to live is to be able to connect with people through a song." "#Cambios" is already available on all digital platforms.
