Apple fans were surprised when the next generation MacBook Pro wasn't revealed at WWDC earlier this month, although judging by the new benchmark tests, the new MacBook Pro will be made available soon.
The new MacBook Pro was revealed on Geekbench under the "AAPLJ44,1" model number. Still unknown however, if this benchmark is for a Retina MacBook Pro or simply an update to the older model, but both machines provide comparable performance when equipped with the same processor.
According to Cult of Mac, this machine was running OS X 10.9 Mavericks, which was unveiled at WWDC and is currently in beta testing with developers, and it packs 8GB of RAM and an Intel Core i5 4258U processor, clocked at 2.4GHz.
The Intel Core i5 4258U processor is the new Haswell Processor that was recently introduced to the MacBook Air, and according to test results via Geekbench it will push performance improvements as high as 5-8%. While this doesn't sound like a huge improvement, the main change will be the impact on the battery life.
The Haswell Processor is the main reason why MacBook Air possesses it's all-day battery life. With the inclusion of the Haswell chip in the new 13-inch MacBook Air, Intel states that it can run for 12 hours on a full charge. Compared to the older 13-inch MacBook Air, which offered a 7 hour battery life, this is huge improvement.
Due to the revelation that the machine is running Mavericks suggests it could get its unveiling alongside the launch of the new OS X update later this year. Recent reports have stated that Apple will update the MacBook Pro along with the iOS devices.
