In a similar incident, a Turkish man pushed his pregnant wife off a cliff for claiming insurance money.
40-year-old Hakan Aysal has been arrested for premeditated murder, for pushing his 32-year-old wife, Semra Aysal off a cliff while vacationing in Butterfly Valley in Mugla, Turkey.
Semra was seven months pregnant at the time of the incident. Both the mother and child died instantly after they fell 1,000 feet while allegedly posing for selfies.
Semra was insured for worth 400,000 Turkish lira, or about $57,000.
Hakan however, denies being responsible for his wife's death. He claims that he was trying to get his Semra's phone to take a photo before hearing a scream.
"After taking a photo, my wife put the phone in her bag," Hakan reasoned. "Later she asked me to give her the phone. I got up and then heard my wife scream behind me when I walked a few steps away to get the phone from her bag."
