The New York Yankees have agreed to sign pitcher Carlos Rodón to a six-year, $162 million contract, according to The New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Rodón spent his 2022 season with the San Francisco Giants posting a 14-8 record, 2.88 ERA, with 237 strikeouts in 178 innings. The 30-year-old was named an All-Star for the second consecutive year while leading the majors in FIP at 2.25 and strikeouts per nine innings with 12.0.
Rodón will join a Yankees pitching staff that had interest in signing another starting arm to feature with All-Stars Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes Jr.
The Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers, and Minnesota Twins all had interest in acquiring Rodón’s services.
