A new pygmy hippo in Scotland has captured the hearts of social media users, overshadowing the previously viral hippo, Moo Deng.

The new sensation is a pygmy hippo calf named Haggis, living at the Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland.

Excitement around Haggis began on November 4 with the announcement of its birth, following the successful delivery by parents Otto and Gloria. This led the zoo to temporarily close the hippo house to care for the mother and calf.

Soon after the video of Haggis' birth was shared it went viral, amassing more than 2.2 million views and a flood of likes, shares, comments, and enthusiasm in just 24 hours.

The overwhelming response has led to an increased engagement with the zoo's social media page, highlighting the public's fascination with baby hippo.
