Morgan Scott was left with a broken leg, ribs, and a severed liver after her attacker mowed her down three times in a road rage attack that happened in Elizabeth, New Jersey on Tuesday, April 12.
The 23-year-old New Jersey city employee was intentionally attacked multiple times by Vincent Jean, who was arrested after videos captured by onlookers showed his Mistubishi SUV ramming into Scott while she was attempting to record his car's license plate after a crash.
Jean is seen reversing his SUV and attempting to hit Scott but she manages to escape.
Jean then turned his vehicle around and fired up his engine, launching another attack on Scott - this time striking her and forcing her onto the ground.
Onlookers, including the person behind the camera can be heard screaming 'stop, stop' but Jean launches another attack on Scott and drives over her despite her lying still.
"Recently my daughter endured a horrible attack on her life but god was merciful and spared mydaughter from death" Scott’s father, lan wrote on his instagram.
"Thank you for your love and support she is recovering God is good! God is Good!!!!!"
Scott suffered deep gashes over 60 percent of her body. She is slowly recovering from life-threatening injuries, including broken leg, ribs, severed liver and a heavy broken spine.
One of the witnesses, identified only as Isaac, told Dailymail that Scott "should never have survived" the horrendous ordeal.
"I walked out and saw the school bus stopped. People were running and screaming and it was just crazy."
"I saw the lady was lying on the grass across the street. I looked at this woman and it was just awful."
"We took a blanket as the grass was really still wet and I asked my wife - who was a nurse - if she was alive."
"She said the woman said 'thank you' to her when she passed it over. Every time I look at the video it makes me feel sick."
"By the last time she got run over she looked completely out of it on the ground. She should never have survived that."
A GoFundMe has been set up for Scott’s medical costs after her family said her insurance company had refused to cover them because they were "intentionally inflicted".
Scott’s family said they were devastated and added the attack was "not the result of any domestic dispute".
"Morgan miraculously survived her terrible ordeal; however, she has three fractured bones in her neck. A broken femur, a lacerated liver, broken ribs, severe back injuries, deep gashes over 60 percent of her body, and severe injuries road rashes. Then to add insult to injury, the insurance company informed her father that they couldn't pay her medical expenses because her injuries weren't from an accident, 'THEY WERE INTENTIONALLY INFLICTED.'"
The family added, "Morgan is lying incapacitated in a trauma center; she will require additional surgery, and her recovery/rehabilitation will be long and arduous. We are mounting a fundraising campaign to raise $100,000 to offset the cost of Morgan's medical expenses, so I'm appealing to all generous, compassionate people."
Numerous clips posted on Jean’s social media indicate that he is obsessed with the video game 'Grand Theft Auto', showing scenes of high speed chases, street crashes and carjackings.
Jean has been charged with first degree attempt for murder and third degree asualt for auto. He is currently remanded in custody at the Union County Jail pending a pretrial detention heading.
