A royal expert postulated on Tuesday that the streaming giant Netflix is unhappy with Prince Harry and Meghan’s lack of photos with the Queen during the Platinum Jubilee, as many continue to speculate regarding the state of the relationship between Harry and the Royal Family.
Angela Levin, a royal expert who appears to have no direct connection to the monarchy, claimed in an interview that Harry and Meghan’s efforts to get a picture of the Queen and Lilibet were rebuked and that Netflix may have been angered at the lack of photos that the event had of the couple with the other royalty, according to the New York Post.
“Harry and Meghan wanted to see the Queen as soon as possible, so she saw them on the first day,” she claimed. “She went in, and then they asked if they brought their own photographer and they asked if he could take a picture of the two Lilibets, and she said, ‘No, absolutely not possible.’”
A different source knowledgeable about the situation has previously claimed that Harry and Meghan did not ask for a photograph because they felt like the Queen was looking too unwell at the moment and that they just enjoyed the “private and intimate visit with the Queen.”
Many people continue to theorize about the relationship that Harry has with the rest of the British Royal family after their general lack of public contact with other members of the Firm during the Jubilee and their quick escape out of the country before the Jubilee fully ended, People reported.
“I thought they were like petulant teenagers, really,” Levin said. “If they didn’t get what they wanted, they would leave. They did leave early. They left before the pageant on Sunday. They also didn’t go to anything else.”
In spite of these claims, other sources who are closer to the monarchy say that it was not a snub and that they had always planned to leave after attending two events.
“They aren't part of the [working] royal family anymore, and that's a decision they have taken — but maybe [the public] hasn't quite accepted that yet,” a source knowledgeable about the situation said. “Yes, they were low-key. They paid their respects and went home. They were really here to see the Queen, and they did.”
