Zac Efron in a scene from 'Neighbors.' Neighbors

"Neighbors" is the latest film from Seth Rogen which takes a hilarious look at neighborly interaction, pitting two unlikely foes against each other in American suburbia. Seth Rogen ("This Is the End," "Knocked Up"), Zac Efron ("The Lucky One," "That Awkward Moment") and Rose Byrne ("Bridesmaids," "Insidious") join forces with director Nicholas Stoller ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Get Him to the Greek") for Neighbors, a comedy about a young couple suffering from arrested development who are forced to live next to a fraternity house after the birth of their newborn baby.

Seth Rogen revealed some real-life inspiration for the movie. The comedy veteran revealed that he has a troublesome neighbor of his own: "He’s been building a house for two years and he starts at 7:30 in the morning. So my method of dealing with it is yelling at him every few months.” Rogen also revealed that one of the most outrageous scenes in the film, where his character Mac must literally milk Byrne's character Kelly: where one of the producers was driving back from Coachella and their pump broke and he had to milk her on the side of the road. So that sh*t happens!”

Rogen also talked about how he got his start in comedy: “I started doing stand-up when I was thirteen years old, so I always thought I was hilarious. It took around 15 years to make anyone agree with me.” If reviews of the film are anything to go by, it seems like a lot of people agree. For Rose Byrne, comedy has been more of a challenge: "I find comedy incredibly challenging and underrated and people like Seth make it look effortless.” Despite this, Byrne is actually one of the standouts in the film.

Indeed, both Zac Efron, who plays frat boy Teddy, and Seth Rogen revealed that working with Rose was just great fun: “She was great," says Rogen. "It was so much fun. She was so funny and continues to be so funny, and those scenes were so much fun to do. I feel like we were a good team in the movie.” Byrne herself explained what made Kelly so unique and funny: “We wanted to not make her the usual stock female character of the nagging wife in the corner and try and make her as irresponsible and irreverent as the rest of the cast.”

For Zac Efron, creating Teddy was about learning to find the good in the middle of all the crazy. “I learned how to harness the camaraderie. Making his insanity come from a good place. It’s eccentric but this is where young guys are sometimes.” Efron also had to do some serious physical preparation as he spends much of the film showing off his perfectly ripped body. So much so, that Rogen joked “he didn’t even have shirt in the budget by the end of it.”

There are too many funny scenes in the film to comment on, but all three actors spoke about the 'Robert Deniro' scene in which the frat boys impersonate the famous actor. Dave Franco apparently had a bit of trouble maintaining the impression: Efron revealed that “it wasn’t like he was breaking character or cracking up – he just couldn’t sustain it any longer.”
