Tristan Thompson was part of that trade involving Domantas Sabonis, Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield before the NBA trade deadline. Regardless, he was always seen to be likely waived and it appears that will be happening soon.
Thompson played four games with the Pacers and had his most decent showing against the Washington Wizards. He produced 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting to go with six rebounds in 21 minutes of action.
In the traditional post-game interview after the Pacers won, head coach Rick Carlisle was asked to comment on the Canadian’s showing. Unfortunately, his response was something that caught most by surprise.
“Well, it was fun while it was lasted. He’s going to be joining a different team. He’s going to be waived tomorrow, and he’ll be joining a contending team in the East, a little bit north, if anybody wants to tweet. Stars with a C and ends with an O,” Carlisle said in the post-game interview.
To make sure, Carlisle mentioned the name of the team anyway – Chicago.
Carlisle went on to say that he didn’t mind revealing it because it was going to happen anyway. Regardless, some felt it was a bit unusual.
Regardless, it was something that most had expected. However, what most did not see is Chicago being Thompson’s next stop.
Once the wheels turn and Thompson clears all necessary paperwork and likely a physical, he would be a big boost to the Chicago Bulls who have been wowing fans this season.
If the Bulls carry on their marvelous run to the playoffs, Thompson could even win another NBA title. However, there are teams like the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat standing in the way.
The Bulls are currently leading the Eastern Conference pack with a 38-21 win-loss card. They are enjoying a five-game winning streak and are just half-a-game ahead of the Heat as of this writing.
