In another similar incident, a man allegedly shot and killed himself after fatally shooting his lover for refusing his proposal to marry her in Pali, Jodhpur, India on April 8.
The 30-year-old accused, identified as Chhagan Banjara, and Mamta Banjara, 23, have reportedly been in an extra-marital affair for the last five years after meeting each other while working in a catering and confectionery business.
Chhagan is married and has two children. However, his estranged wife has not lived with him for the past several years. After meeting Mamta, Chhagan reportedly decided to leave his wife and propose to Mamta.
When Mamta rebuffed Chhagan's proposal, he suspected that she was having an affair with another man. This led to frequent arguments between the couple.
On Friday night, April 8, at around 9 p.m., Chhagan stormed Mamta’s house in Subhash Nagar while carrying a pistol, interrupting her dinner with some family members. Even though the woman tried to run away, Chhagan caught her and shot her point-blank in the head. Following this, Chhagan also shot himself in the head and killed himself.
The authorities reportedly recovered a suicide note from the man’s pocket in which he blamed Mamta for his death. In the letter, he admitted that he left his wife after having an affair with Mamta.
